About this event

Join a Manatee Audubon guided bird walk at Perico Preserve on Perico Island in Bradenton, where the preserve—created specifically as a bird sanctuary amidst restored coastal wetlands and uplands—offers intimate access to diverse habitats. Led by experienced birder-guides Debbie & Rob Carr , these morning walks take you along shaded boardwalks and observation decks overlooking rookeries and mangrove ponds—prime spots to see osprey, wading birds, wood storks, marsh wrens, and more. The trip typically runs a couple of hours; be sure to bring binoculars, water, sun protection, and comfortable shoes. It’s a gentle but immersive way for birders of all levels to connect with Florida’s rich avian life and learn about local conservation.

Meet at the picnic tables to be ready to start at 8:00am
