Art of the Backstage

About this event

On Display Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm

Before a single word is spoken onstage, the light has already told you where to look. Art of the Backstage returns to LMCU with a new chapter, turning the spotlight on lighting design: the art of shaping mood, time, and attention out of light and shadow.

Curated by Marcus Wehby, this edition pulls back the curtain on the designers who decide what an audience sees, and how it feels when they see it. From the first read of a script to the final cue, every choice of color, angle, and intensity is made in service of a character, a world, a moment.

Driven by a shared belief that world-class art belongs at the heart of our community, Lake Michigan Credit Union and The Studio have joined forces to bring this gallery experience directly to you. Hosted physically inside LMCU’s St. Petersburg branch as part of the Artistic Incubator Gallery series, this collaboration redefines where culture lives, intercepting your daily routine with a burst of theatrical inspiration.

The exhibit will run November 10, 2026 to January 31, 2027.

Opening reception: Tuesday, November 10, 2026, 4–6 p.m.
