About this event
Plein Air at De Soto National Memorial Park
8300 DeSoto Memorial Hwy, Bradenton, Fl 34209
November 10, from 9am - noon (come when you can and leave when you must)
De Soto National Memorial Park in Bradenton, Florida, offers a wonderful setting for this practice. This 26-acre national park commemorates the 1539 landing of Spanish conquistador Hernando de Soto and the early exploration of the American Southeast. Today, its natural surroundings provide a peaceful retreat for artists seeking inspiration along Florida’s Gulf Coast.
With its coastal scenery, lush vegetation, winding trails, and views of the water, the park offers a variety of subjects for plein air painters. The changing Florida light creates endless opportunities to explore color, shadow, and reflection, while the movement of the breeze and water brings an added sense of life to each painting.
Plein Air is about leaving the four walls of your studio behind and experiencing painting, drawing, photography or any medium you want in the outdoors. The practice goes back for centuries, but was truly made into an art form by the French Impressionists.
